My odd food pyramid.

A running friend recently commented on my odd diet. So now I can't help but look at it more closely.

Have you seen Blazing Saddles? There is a scene that reminded me a bit of today. It's the one where the Waco kid downs a bottle of whisky in the town jail and then the Sheriff says "this".

Let me explain.

The good news: I ran 20.2 miles today and played an hour of tennis.
The bad news: I was no model of nutritional excellence.

Intake Today
____________________________________________
Coffee (2 cups)
Gatorade (2 qts)
"Espresso Love" GU (1 squirt, 2x caffeine)
Egg McMuffin (no meat)
OJ
Hash brown (extra greasy)

Subway BMT (six inches)
Cherry Coke (2)

Snow Caps (half box)
Milk Duds (handful)
Popcorn (movie kind, buttered)
(can you tell I went to the movies?)

Peanut Butter Creme Cookies, by far my favorite. (half package)

Spaghetti with meat sauce
Bread
Cake, yellow with chocolate icing (1 slice)

2 quarts Gatorade

This is all about self improvement. So here's to better nutrition!

Good for you on the 20+ mile run and tennis!

Re your specialized food pyramid - You never know, you might be really on to something! After all, the widely touted food pyramid of the 50's was actually sponsored by the American Dairy Council (the milk, cheese, egg, butter people, of course).

It wasn't until the 90's, however, that the ADC pyramid was questioned, partially by the farmers growing grain products. Hence, the rush to include fiber in our diets!

Continued good work-outs.

My best,
L

...and then came low-carb-mania.

My food pyramid yesterday looked like what a seven year old might design for him/herself. Maybe they would throw in a chocolate pudding and substitute in Spaghetti O's, but pretty close.

What would my Mom say if she knew I was eating like THAT!

Hi!
I really like your blog. I'll be sure to add it to my favorites.

Check out my blog about nutrition...I like to write about tofu and things like that!

It must be nice to be able to burn off all of those calories instead of having them go straight to your hips! ;} I'm reading the book, French Women Don't Get Fat, and in 7 months, I've decided to start adding lots more fine wine, cheese and high-quality chocolate to my diet!

Did you savor your snow-caps?

I am not as in love with Snow Caps now that that they can be readily purchased outside of theaters. Still, I have a hard time not savoring any form of dark chocolate.

Well, I am not sure I would like dark chocolate on my tofu! Spammer!
