Running Gangs of New York
![]()
I had a decent race yesterday, all things considered. It was not what I was shooting for, but it was not not so bad either. I did learn not to take the humidity quite so lightly. The air early on was thick.
The real story, however, was the running clubs. Teams, teams, everywhere teams. I am certainly starting to "get it" on the team thing. I think it brings a competitive element to the sport that seems to be missing at most road races. Meaning, I could see that it was more than just people running against the clock with a water station every couple miles. It was the guys with the top hats and the spats legging it out with the guys clutching the rabbits! Only in New York.

Glad to hear you had a good race - I was thinking of you.
I'm sure you didn't see any of the pictured Gangs of New York, unless they reincarnated from the Five Points Section of Civil War days!
Continued training (and race) success.
My best,
L
If you're a new New York runner, you might like this site. I just found it recently myself.
This is NOT a spam comment.
Thanks L. You are right, everyone looked pretty normal.
Anon, thanks for the map. You shouldn't rule out a future as a spam writer! I need to learn how to put a link in a comment.
PORTUGAL: Nestle to acquire HOD business - report
Nestle Waters Direct Portugal is to buy the Portuguese office delivery water company Peyroteo & Caravela, it was reported this week.
Hey, you have a great blog here! I'm definitely going to bookmark you!
I have a makeup for acne scars site/blog. It pretty much covers makeup for acne scars related stuff.
Come and check it out if you get time
Looks like you have a very active blog. I found this by mistake and wanted to post something before I left. I do plan on returning.
If you want to check out my site, it has to do with webmaster scripts. Basically, I put together a course to provide proven, profitable maketing for webmaster scripts on the Internet.
Jack, I had not appreciated how truly popular you and your blog had become; but between dog figurines, pit bulls, pumpkin recipes and hot stock tips, it would appear that you have a very broad and diverse audience.
These blamments get really old, and it's too bad there's no way to keep them from proliferating . . .
D
PS - Look forward to catching up with you soon and hearing about the race. It's been too long!
D- What can I say, running appeals to the inner eclectic in all of us! (You have got to try the pumpkin thing though, mmmwwahhh.)
There is a way to get rid of the comments by setting up a number verification thing for commenters. April Anne did it and it solved her comment problems.
They are amusing though. And sometimes, even a blamment is better than nothing. What was that song, "...if it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all.."
“had a decent race yesterday”. That’s it? Where are the details? The time, the distance, how you felt, how you placed? I love hearing all that details!! :)
Great blog! I will definitely come back later!
Hey look at my blog when you get a chance. It is mostly about stupid stuff some guy writes.
I'll bet you think you're pretty clever with that last one.
Those were lyrics from Hee Haw's "Gloom, Despair, and Agony On Me" song: "If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all." ...And since we're on the subject, I'll add a line from their closing theme song, "May your pleasures be many, your troubles be few." It's been over 20 years since I've thought about that show. Jessica Simpson in her Daisy Dukes would have fit right in on that set (or showed them a thing or two)!

That show is probably the sole reason why I have the number of pairs of overalls that I do. :-)
