Long run, but fast too

Today, I wanted to run 14-16 easy miles. My legs have been heavy this week so I thought long and slow was a good call. Indeed, I started out with legs that confirmed the plan. But everything loosened up, the temperature was great, and I started to think on the race coming up. So:

I did the last six just at 43 minutes.
The last three were all below 7 minute pace.

This was a nice confidence booster, building speed.

===> Ran 14 miles 1:54:00
Cooled down with 1 mile

You are awesome! My 2:26 half marathon pales compared to your training time. You make me re-think my slow, injury-free training. I'd like to re-consider speed training. How long have you been running btw?

I just started more than a year ago.

And thanks to the 'calculators' linked in your site. They're helpful.

Good luck to ya!

I'm currently preparing for Palm Beach and Miami half-marathons(I'm based in Fla).

Hopefully, I can run the full in 2006.

And I'll be following your progress.

I guess one thing that I have learned is that there is ALWAYS someone faster. I am not as fast as I think I can be yet. Still, thanks for the nice comments. To answer your question, I started when I was 12. So, it has been a few years.

I am glad you are a reader.
Good luck with your training!
