New Shoes
Yes, new shoes, Asics. Delightful in contrast to the "old" ones.
There are bizarre niches exploited by marketing folks in many parts of life. I am going to commit myself to working with running shoe companies to help them understand the niche I represent. How else can I get new shoes for every run?!
I need to go now, but I will flesh this concept out a bit later!
D: How did it go? I heard some early tid-bits from N. It sounds quite bloggable!

If anyone can figure out how to get a shoe deal from their blog, it's you.
As for the triathlon (swim 450 yds, bike 12 m., run 4 m.) - the opposite of bloggable. In fact, the only item would be a suggestion: have your equipment as well as your body in condition for an event. Although I had tested and checked the bike, the morning of the race, I had a flat tire. Everything pretty much went downhill from there.
In the end, I got there late and was given a later start time. I literally ran to the pool, jumped in and started the race - and finished with virtually the same weak time as the prior 3 years (with zero training this year). What does that mean - I retain the poor condition that I previously had? The positives were that, although I had begun the day with equipment difficulties, I had none further, nor did I have any physical problems (other than a slow time). Sorry you weren't able to make it this year.
On an (audio) book review note (to add to the weather and movie reviews), I recently listened to "Devil in the White City" per your suggestion. Not bad - I enjoyed the period details of late-19th century Chicago, along with the almost-too-shocking-to-be-true details of the activities of Dr. Holmes. I would say that it was slightly better than "The Brotherhood" by John Grisham, which I just finished last week. Grisham's books always move along well, but I haven't found one yet that had a satisfying ending.
This week, I've started "The Bourne Legacy," and it's got me roped in. I'll let you know how it goes.

Congratulations.
Good for you for getting out there and doing it. It is interesting that your times have been the consistent despite varying levels of prep work. I did notice from the results that CU still hasn't bested my mark.
Nice note re CU. I'll mention to him that you checked the results and were taunting him. However, you were a topic of conversation that day, because after the race I did mention that I thought your prior best time was still out there to beat.

And of course there was the CU "did I skip a lap?" issue a while back.
