Spun-n-Run....

.....or maybe Span-n-Ran. You get the gist.
=
Apparently, the old spinning instructor has left to pursue other interests. The replacement is a big uptick as they say. Certainly more intense about the business of spinning, a real student of the intricacies of stationary bike riding, and most importantly a true believer in position 3.

I was the only pupil tonight. It worked out well enough once I got comfortable with the concept of having my own personal trainer (at least for an hour). It was actually the most aggressive spinning I have done. My heart peaked at 180.
=
After the spinning, I changed shoes and ran for a little more than a half hour. Mostly, the goal was to teach the legs what "bike to run" feels like. For fun, I threw in a few 800s at just under a 7 clip. That, considering the hard spin, felt very comfortable. After a workout like tonight, I see it all happening.

Tomorrow, AM, pool.

It must have been a super feeling to luck out and have your own personal spinning trainer! Question: Does the instructor also "spin" at his/her heart peaking at 180 (or is that just in his/her manual)?

My best,
L

Don't know. Women usually have a higher max heart rate and she was younger than me (you lose a beat a year or so), so I assume she got up there too. You can't tell much with spinning though because the tension wheels don't tell you how hard someone is working. Read: you can fake a hard workout.

Congratulations! I noticed that you just hit the 1,000 mark on your blog hits!

There are a lot of us out there routing for you in your quest for a successful personal half ironman in June on the way to a really good marathon in the Fall.

Keep up the good work!

My best,
L

Thanks. The counter is somewhat misleading though. It adds one even if you just refresh. I don't think there are too many readers really. But once I start selling my calendar on the blog, things should pick up!
